On the afternoon of May 22, 2023, Cheng Jiayou, deputy general manager of Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Branch, and Su Hong, senior expert of Sinopec Engineering Incorporation, visited the olefin polymer Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Demonstration platform (hereinafter referred to as olefin Platform) of Ningbo Innovation Center, Zhejiang University. Professor Yang Yongrong, School of Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University, and Professor Wang Jingdai, School of Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University accompanied the visit.

Professor Yang Yongrong first welcomed the visiting experts and thanked the enterprise for its long-term attention to support the development of the innovation center and olefin platform. Subsequently, Professor Yang Yongrong introduced the construction of the olefin platform, as well as the construction progress of high pressure free radical polymerization laboratory, polymer processing laboratory, catalyst preparation laboratory, etc., and focused on the development and application of high-pressure polyethylene. The visiting experts had an in-depth understanding of the system mechanism, platform construction, talent team, scientific research achievements and other aspects of the olefin platform.

Cheng Jiayou fully affirmed the results of the construction and development of the olefin platform, and looked forward to further cooperation between the two sides to promote the high-quality development of both sides and support the future development of China Petrochemical industry. Subsequently, representatives of Zhejiang University, Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Branch and Sinopec Engineering Incorporation conducted in-depth exchanges. The three parties expressed their willingness to jointly exert their advantages, overcome difficulties in major research and development directions in the field of polyolefin, reach specific plans for cooperation as soon as possible, and promote the construction of an important carrier for scientific and technological research, resource sharing, personnel training, and achievement transformation.
