Face the "neck technology" problem, break through the blockade
In the face of the new situation of globalization full of uncertainty and the new demand for domestic development of high-end manufacturing, many key industries such as new materials and new energy encouraged by national policies need high-pressure polymerization products to provide important support. However, the complete set of technology of ultra-high pressure polymerization process is completely monopolized by large foreign oil companies, and the required equipment, meters, pipe fittings and so on are almost all dependent on imports. In the face of the urgent needs of the country for the development of ultra-high pressure polyolefin technology and equipment, Zhejiang University Ningbo Science and Technology Innovation Center olefin polymer advanced manufacturing technology innovation demonstration platform closely combined with the national strategy, industrial needs and development problems, on the basis of long-term scientific research, 2020-2022 independently designed and built the first set of ultra-high pressure continuous polymerization experiment platform in China. The maximum reaction pressure is 350MPa, the maximum reaction temperature is 300℃, and two operating modes of continuous polymerization and intermittent polymerization can be realized. Based on the UHV continuous polymerization experimental platform, high pressure free radical homopolymerization and copolymerization of ethylene can be carried out, involving basic physical property data measurement, reaction kinetics research, initiator formulation optimization, modulator evaluation, new product development, etc., providing theoretical and experimental support for UHV free radical polymerization process technology innovation and complete set of technology development. It will be used for the research and development of general and high-end polyolefin materials, such as ultra-high voltage cable insulation material (LDPE) and shielding material (EBA/EVA), ethylene-acrylic acid series copolymer (EMA), iolymer and other serialized products. At present, the platform has received extensive attention from the polyolefin industry, and a number of petrochemical companies have also taken the initiative to seek cooperation opportunities.

The leader of the platform is Professor Wang Jingdai from the School of Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University. The research group of chemical engineering and olefin polymerization has a solid foundation and strong technical force, and has nearly 40 years of research history in the field of polyolefin. Participated in the development of the first domestic 350,000 tons/year gas-phase polyethylene process, 300,000 tons/year gas-liquid polyethylene process, 300,000 tons/year grout method polyethylene process, etc., participated in the licensing and construction of 15 sets of large-scale polyethylene complete sets of technology, residual pressure expansion cryogenic method green and efficient recovery of polyolefin emission gas new technology in 36 sets of large-scale polyolefin devices. It has won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and the second prize of National Technology Invention Award, and a total of 6 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards. It has undertaken a number of national key research and development programs, key projects of National Natural Science Foundation, Sinopec, petrochina, ExxonMobil and other technical research projects.
At present, the olefin polymer advanced manufacturing technology innovation demonstration platform has carried out technical cooperation with a number of domestic petrochemical enterprises, and intends to cooperate with Zhejiang University's high pressure equipment specialty to build a research and development base for ultra-high pressure reaction and equipment.
